Abstract
The German e-government interoperability framework SAGA specifies the technical standards for the development of e-government systems and applications, particularly with regard to the implementation of the BundOnline 2005 initiative. Its aim is to enable interoperability of information systems by defining standards and rules regarding openness, scalability, the ability to support multiple back-ends, simplified system management, independence of fixed workplaces, and neutrality of operating systems. With this Version 2.0, SAGA is gaining a new dimension since it will also become the recognised basis for common standards in regional and local administrations.
