Abstract
The ISO conference, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) - The Road to Future Standards, held jointly with its partners, the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)and ITU (International Telecommunication Union),and organized under the patronage of UN/ECE, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, on 26 June 2001 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, was the first of its kind: a conference that brought together the variety of players and stakeholders within one industry sector, that of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), to take a thorough look at the needs and challenges for standardization in the sector in fast-moving times ahead.
