Abstract
The 88open Consortium was an industry standards group set up in 1988 by Motorola, which aimed to standardize and create a Unix operating system, application software, and hardware standards to support the use of its 88000 RISC microprocessors. The consortium also developed a wide variety of test suites, supported a global branding campaign, and operated a hardware and software certification and test facility in California. *Inactive
