Developing corporate infrastructure: implications for international standardization

A study of de facto standardization of information infrastructure in two, large companies is sketched. Based on an analysis of this, it is argued that more formal standardization processes may benefit from this by emphasizing the evolutionary character as well as constraining the ambition for uniformity.
